Cold-formed profiles are made by roll-forming or press-braking thin gauge steel strip into C, Z, U, hat and other open sections at room temperature.
02 What are typical applications?
Cold-formed profiles are widely used for secondary structural members: purlins, girts, wall studs, floor joists, roofing, cladding supports and light framing.
03 What is the typical thickness range?
Cold-formed profiles are typically 1.0 - 6.0 mm thick. Thicker gauges up to 12 mm can be produced on request.
04 What standards cover cold-formed sections?
EN 10162 covers technical delivery conditions for cold-formed sections. AISI / AISC standards also apply for North American projects.
05 What is the difference between cold-formed and hot-rolled profiles?
Cold-formed profiles are produced from thin strip at room temperature for lighter members. Hot-rolled profiles are produced at elevated temperature for primary heavy structural members.
