Weathering Corten Steel Plate combines low-carbon structural steel with copper, chromium and nickel additions for reliable atmospheric corrosion resistance and consistent dimensional control. The protective oxide patina develops naturally under outdoor exposure, eliminating the need for painting in many applications, making the plate suited to bridge structures, architectural facades, railway rolling stock and container fabrication. Supplied to ASTM A588 / EN 10025-5 with mill test certification per EN 10204 3.1, it supports global procurement for long-life infrastructure projects.

01 What is Corten / weathering steel plate?
Weathering steel (Corten) is a low-alloy steel containing copper, chromium, nickel and phosphorus. It forms a stable rust-like oxide layer that protects the steel from further corrosion.
02 What are typical applications?
Corten plate is widely used for architectural cladding, bridges, outdoor sculptures, freight containers, chimneys and structural façades.
03 Does weathering steel require painting?
In most atmospheric environments, weathering steel is used unpainted and forms a stable protective patina naturally. For severe or chloride-rich exposure, protective coating is recommended.
04 What thicknesses are available?
Standard plate thickness 3 - 100 mm. Heavier gauges available on request.
05 Can Corten plate be welded?
Yes. Weathering steel offers good weldability using standard procedures. Matching composition filler metals (e.g., AWS E8018-W) are recommended.
