Alloy and structural alloy steel sheet and strip
Standard specification for alloy and structural alloy steel sheet and strip, hot-rolled and cold-rolled.
Alloy Steel — Industrial Product
Low-alloy 4140 steel coil supplied to ASTM A506 / EN 10084 for machinery, power generation and petrochemical applications.
Overview
Alloy Steel Coil combines low-alloy 4140 chemistry with chromium and molybdenum additions for reliable mechanical performance, high tensile strength and consistent dimensional control after heat treatment. The coil is suited to heavy machinery, power generation equipment, petrochemical components, tooling blanks and pressure vessel fabrication. Supplied to ASTM A506 / EN 10084 with mill test certification per EN 10204 3.1, it supports procurement for demanding structural and mechanical applications.

FAQ
Most enquiries reduce to a small set of recurring technical questions.
4140 (ASTM) and 42CrMo4 / 1.7225 (EN) are direct equivalents with similar chromium-molybdenum chemistry. Both offer high hardenability and strength after quenching and tempering.
Alloy coil is typically supplied in hot-rolled annealed or quenched and tempered condition depending on end-use requirement.
4140 coil is commonly used for automotive components, gears, shafts, springs, tool holders and high-strength fabricated parts.
Mill supply is usually annealed or normalized. Final quenching and tempering is typically performed by the end-user to project-specific hardness.
EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate with chemical composition and mechanical properties is standard. Ultrasonic testing and third-party inspection can be arranged.
