FAQ

Most enquiries reduce to a small set of recurring technical questions.

01 What is 304 stainless steel?

304 (1.4301 / SUS304) is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel, containing approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel. It offers good corrosion resistance, formability and weldability.

02 What is the maximum service temperature of 304 coil?

304 is suitable for intermittent service up to 870 °C and continuous service up to 925 °C. For sustained high-temperature strength, 304H or 321 is preferred.

03 Is 304 coil magnetic?

304 is austenitic and essentially non-magnetic in the annealed condition. Cold working may induce slight magnetism.

04 What is the difference between 304 and 304L?

304L has lower carbon content (≤ 0.03%) to prevent sensitization during welding. 304L is preferred for welded assemblies that cannot be post-weld annealed.

05 What surface finishes are available for 304 coil?

2B (standard matte), BA (bright annealed), No.4 (brushed), HL (hairline) and No.8 (mirror) finishes can be supplied.
