Nickel-chromium-molybdenum-columbium alloy plate, sheet and strip
Standard specification for nickel-chromium-molybdenum-columbium alloy plate, sheet and strip for general corrosion-resistant and high-temperature service.
Nickel Alloy — Industrial Product
Inconel 625 nickel alloy sheets and plates supplied to ASTM B443 / ASME SB443 for chemical processing, marine, offshore and high-temperature service.
Overview
Inconel 625 Sheets & Plates combine a nickel-chromium matrix with molybdenum and niobium additions to deliver exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice and stress-corrosion cracking across a wide range of corrosive media. The alloy retains useful strength from cryogenic temperatures up to approximately 1000 °C and is supplied in the annealed condition for general chemical, marine and offshore service. Plates and sheets are supplied per ASTM B443 / ASME SB443 with mill test certification per EN 10204 3.1. The combination of corrosion resistance, weldability and thermal stability makes the plate suited to chemical process equipment shells and internals, marine and offshore structural components, heat exchanger baffles and tubesheets, ducting and stack liners, and fabricated assemblies in corrosive or chloride-containing service.

FAQ
Most enquiries reduce to a small set of recurring technical questions.
Inconel 625 (UNS N06625 / NiCr22Mo9Nb / 2.4856) is a nickel-chromium alloy strengthened by molybdenum and niobium additions. Plate and sheet supplied per ASTM B443 / ASME SB443 deliver exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice and stress-corrosion cracking and are suitable for service from cryogenic temperatures up to approximately 1000 °C.
Cold rolled sheet is typically supplied from 0.5 mm up to approximately 4 mm. Hot rolled plate is supplied from approximately 4.7 mm up to 75 mm per ASTM B443, with thicker plate subject to mill capability and order quantity.
Both are produced from the same Inconel 625 alloy. Sheet refers to cold rolled product in thinner gauges (typically up to 4 mm) with tighter thickness tolerance. Plate refers to hot rolled product in heavier gauges with tolerances and delivery conditions per ASTM B443.
Yes. Inconel 625 is readily weldable using GTAW, GMAW and other conventional processes with matching Inconel 625 filler (ERNiCrMo-3). Post-weld heat treatment is generally not required for the annealed condition.
Solution annealed is the standard delivery condition. The plate is supplied in the annealed & pickled finish unless otherwise specified. Cold rolled sheet can also be supplied in the bright annealed condition.
Yes. The high nickel and molybdenum content provides strong resistance to chloride-induced pitting and crevice corrosion. Inconel 625 plate is widely used for marine and offshore structural components, seawater-handling equipment and ducting in chloride-containing environments where 316L stainless is inadequate.
