概要
Stainless Steel Plate 316 combines austenitic stainless steel with 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel and 2–3% molybdenum for reliable chloride resistance and consistent dimensional control. The molybdenum addition delivers enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion performance in chloride-rich environments, making the plate suited to chemical processing tanks, petrochemical equipment, oil and gas facilities, marine structures and pharmaceutical systems. Supplied to ASTM A240 with mill test certification per EN 10204 3.1, it supports global procurement for harsh-service projects.

01 What is 316 stainless plate?
316 stainless plate (1.4401 / SUS316) is an austenitic grade with 2-3% molybdenum for improved resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion.
02 When should 316 plate be specified over 304?
316 is preferred for marine, coastal, chemical processing, pharmaceutical and chloride-rich service where 304 is not adequate.
03 Is 316 plate suitable for food contact?
Yes. 316 plate is widely used for food processing, brewing, dairy and pharmaceutical equipment. Hygienic surface finishes are available.
04 Can 316 plate be supplied as low-carbon 316L?
Yes. 316L (1.4404 / SUS316L) with carbon ≤ 0.03% is available for welded applications requiring maximum intergranular corrosion resistance.
05 What is the maximum service temperature of 316 plate?
Continuous service up to 925 °C is acceptable. Sustained 425 - 860 °C exposure should be avoided to prevent carbide precipitation.
