Aluminum and aluminum-alloy sheet and plate
Standard specification for aluminum and aluminum-alloy sheet and plate covering dimensions, tolerances and mechanical properties.
Aluminum Alloy — Industrial Product
6061 aluminum sheets and plates supplied to ASTM B209 / EN 485 for machinery, structural fabrication and general industrial applications.
Overview
6061 Aluminum Sheets & Plates combine a magnesium-silicon 6xxx aluminum alloy with controlled hot and cold rolling for reliable mechanical performance, consistent flatness and predictable fabrication behavior. The T6 temper delivers a balanced combination of strength, formability, weldability and corrosion resistance, making the plate and sheet suited to machinery panels and bases, structural components, transport equipment, marine hardware, fabricated tanks and general industrial applications. Supplied to ASTM B209 / EN 485 with mill test certification per EN 10204 3.1, sheets and plates are sourced to specification across a wide thickness range, with cut-to-size plate, custom widths and selected surface finishes available on request.

FAQ
Most enquiries reduce to a small set of recurring technical questions.
6061 (EN AW-6061 / AlMg1SiCu) is a magnesium-silicon-copper 6xxx aluminum alloy. In the T6 / T651 temper it offers a balanced combination of strength, weldability, formability and corrosion resistance, and is one of the most widely used general-purpose structural aluminum alloys.
Sheet and plate are typically supplied from 0.5 mm up to approximately 150 mm, with thinner sheet, plate and cut-to-size plate subject to mill capability and order quantity.
O (annealed), T4 / T451 (solution heat-treated), T6 / T651 (solution heat-treated and artificially aged) are the most common tempers for 6061 plate and sheet. Other tempers are available on request.
In aluminum product standards, plate generally refers to flat products at or above approximately 6.35 mm (1/4 in) thickness, while sheet covers thinner gauges. The applicable tolerances and delivery conditions differ accordingly.
Yes. 6061 is weldable using appropriate filler alloys (e.g. 4043 / 5356) and procedures. For heavily welded assemblies, T6 temper is typically supplied after welding rather than welded in the T6 condition, depending on the specification.
