FAQ
Most enquiries reduce to a small set of recurring technical questions.
CuAg0.1 is a silver-bearing oxygen-free copper alloy (UNS C10700 / EN CW019A / CuAg0.10(OF)) containing a minimum of 0.085 % silver. The silver addition improves resistance to softening at elevated temperatures while retaining near-pure-copper electrical and thermal conductivity (100 % IACS in the annealed condition).
CuAg0.1 tubes are supplied across EN 1652 tempers from H040 / R200 (annealed, HV 40-65) through H110 / R360 (hard drawn, HV >=110). Hardness up to HV 120 is guaranteed; HV 130 can be achieved under optimized cold-work conditions. Hardness beyond HV 130 cannot be reliably guaranteed for CuAg0.10 because hardness is primarily from cold work and the process window narrows at the upper end.
Cu (including Ag) is at least 99.95 %, Ag is at least 0.085 %, and residual oxygen is limited to 0.001 % maximum (oxygen-free). The silver content gives CuAg0.1 improved creep resistance and resistance to thermal softening compared with pure OF-Cu, while preserving high conductivity.
CuAg0.1 copper tube is used for high-conductivity electrical conductors, busbars, motor and commutator components, terminals, connectors and other conductive parts exposed to elevated temperatures where pure oxygen-free copper would soften.
CuAg0.1 tube is supplied to UNS C10700 (CDA) and EN CW019A / CuAg0.10(OF) with reference to EN 1652 for temper and mechanical properties and EN 12449 for seamless round tube dimensions. ASTM B75 / B68 may apply for general engineering or refinery service. EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate is provided as standard documentation.
